Sewer Line Repair

Recurring sewer backups can mean roots, a blockage or damaged pipe. A camera inspection helps us explain whether cleaning or a repair makes sense.

Price expectations

What drives the cost

The price depends on what the plumber finds. Here's what each outcome looks like and where it starts. You don't pick one: book the visit, and we confirm the scope and price with you before any work starts.

Best case

Ask us

Finding out what's wrong in the line before anything is dug.

  • Full camera inspection of your sewer line with a video record and diagnosis.

Exceptional

Ask us

Damage that runs longer, with sections replaced and cleanouts added.

  • Extensive spot repair with section replacement, cleanouts and restoration.

What can change the price

  • Seeing it first. A camera inspection before any repair means you only pay to fix what's actually wrong, and you see it for yourself.
  • Repair or replace. A spot repair is the right call when the rest of the line is sound. When damage runs along the line, repeated spot repairs cost more than fixing it once.
  • Disruption. Trenchless methods avoid digging a trench across the yard in most cases. We'll tell you if your line can be done that way.

You don't need to pick one.

Tell us what's happening. You can leave the diagnosis to us; the visit is where we work out which fix you need.

Is this what you’re dealing with?

Sewage backing up into a tub or a sewer smell in the house is about as unpleasant as plumbing gets, and it's natural to worry it means digging up the yard. Often it doesn't. Sewer lines age, roots find their way in, and the first step is simply seeing what's going on.

Check it yourself first

If just one sink or tub is slow, it's almost always that drain, not the sewer line. Start with the drain.

  1. Check whether the problem is one fixture or several. Only one means it's a drain clog, and you can try clearing it yourself first.
  2. A sewer smell from a sink or floor drain you rarely use can be a dry trap. Run water for a minute to refill it.

Questions people ask

What usually causes it?

Roots in the line: Tree roots find small gaps in older sewer pipe and grow inside, catching everything that goes down the drain. A sag or break in the pipe: Ground movement can make a section of pipe sag and hold waste, or crack it. That causes repeat backups in the same place. A buildup, not a break: Sometimes the line is fine and just needs a thorough cleaning. The camera tells us which it is.

How do you price it?

A camera inspection helps establish the condition of the line. A spot repair addresses a damaged section; replacing a longer run is project work. Access, depth and the condition of the remaining pipe affect the estimate.

Can I check it myself first?

If just one sink or tub is slow, it's almost always that drain, not the sewer line. Start with the drain.

What happens when you come out?

The main line with a camera, so you see what we see. Where the problem is and how far from the house, and the pipe material. Whether a cleaning will hold or the pipe itself needs repair. The cleanout location and access for any repair.
