Water Pressure Regulator / Conroe, Texas

My water pressure is too high, too low, or keeps changing

Pipes that bang when a faucet shuts off, a toilet that keeps wearing out, or a shower that suddenly goes weak are all easy to live with until they aren't. Many homes have a pressure regulator where the water line comes in. It's a part that wears out like any other, and when it does, the whole house feels it.

What could this take?

  1. Best case

You may not need a call.

Not every pressure problem is the regulator. A couple of checks tell you whether it's the whole house, and whether it's your house at all.

    What should I do first?
    1. Check whether it's one faucet or the whole house. One weak faucet usually just needs its aerator cleaned.
    2. Make sure the main shutoff valve is fully open. A valve left partly closed after a repair is a common cause of low pressure.
    3. Ask a neighbor whether their pressure changed too. If it did, your water utility is the first call.
    4. If you're curious, a pressure gauge from the hardware store threads onto an outdoor faucet like a hose. Turn that faucet on and it shows the house pressure.

Call us if: The pressure is high, pipes bang, toilets and faucets keep wearing out, or the whole house is low and the neighbors aren't. Don't adjust the regulator yourself.

If it needs a repair: The pressure is fine, and the problem is one fixture or a partly closed valve. We tell you so, and you don't need a new regulator.

  2. Typical case

    A repair with clear options.

A worn regulator. It's replaced in one visit, and the pressure is set where it should be.

  3. Exception case

It may be a bigger job.

The high pressure has already worn out other parts, like toilet valves or the water heater's relief valve. We fix the pressure first, then look at what it affected.

If it becomes project work, we'll evaluate the scope and prepare a separate quote. We'll explain that before you decide.

Everyday repairs / Catalog prices

Your options. Our prices.

Replacing a regulator comes in three tiers, and the difference is the regulator itself, from a quality standard valve to an upgraded one with better flow to a premium brass valve. The install is the same job done right either way.

Every option is professional work. The difference is the scope: what we repair, how much we address, and what that means for you.

What might be causing it—and what will you check?

Understanding the problem

What might be behind it.

  • A regulator that's wearing out

As a regulator ages, it stops holding a steady pressure. The house can swing between too high and too low, or drift up over time.

  • High pressure from the supply

City pressure can be higher than a house needs. Without a working regulator, that pressure wears out faucets, toilet valves, and the water heater faster.

  • A regulator that's stuck or clogged

Scale and debris can stick a regulator partly closed, and the whole house loses pressure.

On the visit

What we check.

  1. The house water pressure, measured with a gauge.
  2. The regulator's age and condition, and whether it holds a steady pressure.
  3. The main shutoff valve, and whether it's fully open.
  4. Signs of high pressure elsewhere, like running toilets, dripping faucets, or a dripping relief valve on the water heater.
How do I decide which option is right for me?
  • How long it lasts

A higher tier regulator holds its setting longer and handles more flow. For a bigger household, that's usually worth it.

  • What it protects

Keeping pressure where it belongs is easier on faucets, toilets, the water heater, and appliance hoses. Fixing it once can save several repairs later.

  • Downtime

A regulator replacement is usually done in one visit. The water is off only while the valve is changed.
