Tankless Water Heaters / Conroe, Texas

My tankless water heater stopped working, or I want to go tankless

Tankless heaters are great until one throws an error code and the hot water stops. The fix is often simpler than it looks. And if you're thinking about going tankless, it's a good upgrade in the right house, but not in every house.

What could this take?

  1. Best case

You may not need a call.

A few tankless problems are yours to try first. Your owner's manual is a good guide.

    What should I do first?
    1. Note the error code on the display and look it up in the owner's manual. Many codes are simple.
    2. Turn the unit's power off and back on once to reset it.

Call us if: The error comes back, you smell gas, the unit won't fire after a reset, or it's been more than a year since it was flushed in a hard water area.

If it needs a repair: The unit needs a flush and a filter cleaning, and it's back to full performance.

  2. Typical case

    A repair with clear options.

A flush plus a part or a settings fix, found by working through the error code.

  3. Exception case

It may be a bigger job.

The unit has reached the end of its life, or you're switching from a tank. A new install may need gas line, venting, or electrical work, and we'll show you what's involved first.

If it becomes project work, we'll evaluate the scope and prepare a separate quote. We'll explain that before you decide.

Everyday repairs / Catalog prices

Your options. Our prices.

There are three kinds of work here, each priced separately: flushing and descaling an existing unit, replacing a tankless unit, and a new tankless install where there wasn't one before. The tiers are about the unit and how far the install goes.

Every option is professional work. The difference is the scope: what we repair, how much we address, and what that means for you.

Want to know a little more?

What might be causing it—and what will you check?

Understanding the problem

What might be behind it.

  • Scale buildup inside the unit

Minerals in the water coat the heat exchanger. That's the most common reason a tankless heater loses performance or shows an error, and a flush often fixes it.

  • A clogged inlet filter

The small filter where cold water enters can clog and cut the flow until the unit won't fire.

  • A gas, venting, or power issue

Tankless units need enough gas, clear venting, and power. A problem with any of them shows up as an error code or no hot water.

  • The unit is failing, or it's time to upgrade

An older unit with repeat failures, or a tank you want to replace with tankless.

On the visit

What we check.

  1. The error code history and what it points to.
  2. The inlet filter, water flow, and scale in the heat exchanger.
  3. The gas supply, venting, and power to the unit.
  4. For a new install, whether the gas line and venting can support tankless.
How do I decide which option is right for me?
  • Upfront cost versus long-term

Tankless costs more to install than a tank, but it doesn't run out of hot water and doesn't keep a full tank hot all day.

  • Maintenance

With hard water, tankless needs a regular flush to keep working well. Skipping it is the most common reason units fail early.

  • Fit for the house

Switching from a tank sometimes needs a bigger gas line or new venting. We'll tell you if that makes tankless a poor fit for your home.
